When it comes to parenting, life, and anything you do, it all has to be in the direction of "I'm going to be self-governed, and my kids are going to be self-governed."
If you just have this idea, you will behave differently toward your kids because you'll have a clear purpose and you'll know what you're trying to achieve.
If you know that this is what you're trying to achieve in life - to be self-governed and not to be governed by your past, not to be governed by your fears, not to be governed by your friends, your family, or anyone— all of a sudden, you see that you become extremely sane.
What does a sane person want?
He wants other people to be self-governed.
And what does an insane person want?
He wants to govern everyone else.
When people push you down, they're actually trying to govern everyone else...
